First print of the year! I am really pleased with how the shadows and light turned out on this one.
Blue Monday 8"W x 10"H Oil Based Ink on Cotton Rag Paper Unframed Limited edition reduction linocut print There is a certain kind of light you get at sunset during the depths of winter that feels warm and bitterly cold at the same time. I think there is something about all the blue shadows that makes the hint of golden yellow just a little more intense. This usually happens when the snow has a hard crunch underfoot and your breath puffs out in clouds as you hike along the trail. Back in the studio this week and finally have gotten around to posting this little 5" x 7" bird reduction (a bit simpler and smaller than the others). Robins are often symbols of change so it seems fitting that I spent a lot of time in December reflecting on my path while working on this guy.
To be completely frank, the last half of 2025 was difficult. Juggling instructing and caregiving while also slowly plugging away at my studio practice has left me depleted. As my brother's health worsened, I cancelled many events and workshops to be able to help him navigate tough days. So, now I'm in that liminal space of trying to get back into my routine, plan ahead for the coming months as well as thinking about what life looks like now that I am no longer a caregiver - even my kids are beautifully independent now! I know folks have reached out asking about workshops - I will be updating my website as I confirm dates in the coming weeks for spring and summer dates.
