8"W x 10"H Oil Based Ink on Cotton Rag Paper Unframed Limited edition reduction linocut print Where I live, there is a creek that meanders slowly through a nearby green space. For a wonderful, brief part of summer it is lit up with the songs of Red-winged blackbirds. The males flit from different stalks of marshy plant life while looking for that perfect love interest, doing everything they can to get noticed. You can buy it here: http://www.michellewiebe.com/store/p37/Marsh-Chorus.html This little piece is for something special - recently I became a part of a newly formed group, The Canadian Letterpress Alliance. Our vast, beautiful country is a little under connected when it comes to niche artisan skills. Thankful for a little more glue to hold us together these days!
I wanted this piece to be a little atypical for letterpress exchanges in the sense that I didn't use any polymer plates, engravings, and/or lead or wood type but rather just a multi-block linoleum approach with carved text. I wanted a low-fi but decently printed image to remind us all that we don't need fancy set ups to get the word out there. Remember the power of the press! |
