There is a certain kind of light you get at sunset during the depths of winter that feels warm and bitterly cold at the same time. I think there is something about all the blue shadows that makes the hint of golden yellow just a little more intense. This usually happens when the snow has a hard crunch underfoot and your breath puffs out in clouds as you hike along the trail.
