I typically base my bookings on a first come first served basis and can set dates a year in advance. If you are interested in having me work with your organization, we can discuss the time parameters, rates, equipment needs and set up details. Included are promotional images, write ups and more. Any of the options described below can be customized further.
Mini-Workshop: Typically a 2 - 2.5 hour session that gives participants a chance to learn more about the art form and try their hand making something simple with basic set up. Great for public engagement or introducing longer class formats on another date. Depending on the supplies required, some of these classes are suitable online as well as in-person settings.
One Day Workshop: Typically one 5 - 6 hour session with a break for lunch. Students learn a basic skill, how to prepare the materials and complete a project from start to finish. This is suited best to in-person settings.
Two Day Workshop: Typically two 5 - 6 hour sessions with a break for lunch each day. Students learn a complex skill, how to prepare the materials, complete a project and explore more in-depth methods. This is suited best to in-person settings.
Weekly Classes: Typically three to five 2 - 2.5 hour sessions. Students break down a skill into bite sized pieces with the opportunity to work ahead between sessions. Depending on the supplies required, some of these classes are suitable for online as well as in-person settings.
Demonstrations: Typically one 2 - 5 hour session. This is not a hands on experience for participants but allows for them to learn in-depth information, see technique and interact by asking questions as they arise. Many of these demonstrations are suitable for online as well as in-person settings.
Private Instruction: I am available for one on one instruction or small groups (which allows you to share the hourly rate). Any of the topics below are available for private instruction, if supplies are required, I can give you a price for that as well. Online instruction via Zoom can also be arranged. For letterpress related instruction, I can bring 2 tabletop presses offsite, have students in studio for table top or floor model platen press operation (in Cochrane, AB) or arrange for private lessons on the Vandercook SP-15 through Alberta Printmakers (in Calgary, AB).
Making your Mark - Beginner and Intermediate Acrylic Painting* Format: One or Two Day Workshop, Weekly Class, In-person or Online Demonstration Age Range: Adult and Older Youth Learn the basics of painting and start working on your masterpiece! Students will learn how choose their subject, prepare their canvas, apply paint with a variety of techniques, as well as troubleshoot problem areas. Students will take home a completed painting and the knowledge to develop their skills further on their own. *Can be customized for Still Life, Portraiture, Landscape or Abstract specific instruction if desired.
Exploring Texture - Using Acrylic Mediums For Depth and Interest Format: One or Two Day Workshop, Weekly Class, In-person or Online Demonstration Age Range: Adult and Older Youth
Learn how to build rich layers into your paintings with simple tools and techniques. This class will help you identify the different types of products available and the myriad ways you can use them in your art. Participants bring home a set of textured paintings that build colour with different approaches. Excellent for beginner and intermediate acrylic paint students.
Sketching Made Fast and Fun – How to sketch with confidence Format: Mini or One Day Workshop, Weekly Class, Demonstration. In-person and online Age Range: Adult and Youth Conquer your fear of pulling out a sketchbook in a coffee shop or city park! With this fun, fast paced class students will learn how to fearlessly tackle any sketching subject matter, no matter who is walking by. Stay Sharp - Carving Tool Maintenance for Relief Printers Format: Online Demonstration Age Range: Adult
Learn the science and practice of maintaining razor sharp edges on your gouges. Having a properly maintained set of tools will result in greater carving accuracy, longer lasting blades, reduced physical fatigue as well as less chance of injury. Using a basic set up of easily made or purchased tools she will show you how to hone, sharpen and repair dings on your U gouges, V gouges and Chisels.
Basics of Letterpress for Platen or Proof Presses Format: One or Two Day Workshop, In-person or Online Demonstration Age Range: Adult and Older Youth Learn all about the history and evolution of letterpress printing and how you can incorporate it into your printmaking practice. You will learn the differences between platen and proof presses, common models and which type might suit your needs. Using a Kelsey table top press during the demonstration, she will guide you through basic terminology, press operation as well as show you basic lock up techniques for type and linocuts.
Letterpress Printed Linocut Greeting Cards (for Any Occasion)* Format: One Day Workshop, In-person or Online Demonstration Age Range: Adult and Older Youth
Experience the history of printing and learn the basics of paper prep, card design and linocut printmaking and using a vintage tabletop letterpress printing machine to create one of a kind greeting cards. Linocut Printmaking for Letterpress Format: One or Two Day Workshop, In-person or Online Demonstration Age Range: Adult Carving your own linoleum is a useful skill for any letterpress printer. Learn about tools and skills for designing, carving and printing your blocks with a press. Topics covered include image transfer, safe carving methods, mounting and shimming blocks and achieving optimal ink coverage. This class is perfect for beginners in linocut printmaking and/or letterpress printing or for those looking for a refresher.

Perfect Linocut Registration Format: Two Day Workshop, In-person or Online Demonstration Age Range: Adult Learn the secrets of planning and executing multiple block prints lots of colour. She will show you how to design and transfer your image to multiple blocks so that they are placed in correct alignment and using a table top Kelsey Platen press she will give a variety of approaches to locking up your multi block creations and neatly printing your layers. This class presumes a basic knowledge of linocut carving (even if you’ve never used them on press).
Incorporating Letterpress Printing into Your Art Format: Two Day Workshop, In-person or Online Demonstration Age Range: Adult Learn all about the evolution of letterpress printing and how you can incorporate it into your printmaking or mixed media practice. Thinking outside of the traditional realm of typesetting and printing text, she will show you ways to take letterpress printed material and incorporate it into 2D and 3D work. If you are working with acrylic paints, relief printmaking, collages already, this will be especially helpful for you to find ways to explore new elements in your art making.

Refurbishing a Small Press Format: In-person or Online Demonstration Age Range: Adult Thinking about investing in some letterpress equipment or have a rusty little machine that you would love to bring back to life? This class will cover basic press components and operation as well as how to spot damaged areas, cleaning methods, making minor repairs and sourcing replacement parts (much of this information is applicable to a wide range of press models and styles). Never be afraid of rust!
